Langtang Region Trekking lies to the northern part of Kathmandu and offers a multitude of trekking destinations, all accessible without flights. The three major areas of this region are Langtang, Gosainkund and Helambu; which can be combined in different ways to make treks from 7 to 16 days long. Langtang is a narrow valley that lies just southern part of the Tibet border. It is sandwiched between the main Himalayan range of the northern and a slightly lower range of snowy to the peaks to the southern Langtang Lirung (7246 m) dominates the valley to the north, Gang Chhenpo (6388 m) and Naya Khang-Ri(5846 m) lies to the south and Dorje Lakpa (6966 m) protects the east end of the valley.

 

Outline Itinerary

  • Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu- Barabise (870 M/2,854ft), 2-3 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),
  • Day 02: Trek from Barabise to Jalbire (830 M/2,723ft), 8-9 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),
  • Day 03: Trek from Jalbire to Khobre (2,435 M/7,988ft), 8-9 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),
  • Day 04: Trek from Khobre to Pokhare Banjang (1,575 M/5,167ft), 9-10 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),
  • Day 05: Trek from Pokhare Banjang to Gyalthung (985 M/3,231ft), 2-3 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),
  • Day 06: Trek from Gyalthung to Samundratar (915 M/3,001ft) via Gul Bhanjyang (2,111 M/6,925ft), 8-9 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),
  • Day 07: Trek from Samundratar to Betrawati (605 M/1,984ft), 9-10 hrs, (Lodging + B-L-D),
  • Day 08: Drive from Betrawati to Kathmandu (1,350 M/4,429ft), 5-6 hrs, (Lodging + B).
