Sikles is a recently explored trekking route and a comparatively developed one which is close to the Annapurna region where the friendly Gurung community dwells & upholds their ancient customs and traditions. Trekking Sikles is beautiful in nature and a well kept countryside of Nepal. The highest elevation is 2000m above the sea level & comfortable for the body, especially if you don’t want high altitudes. This trek is not a difficult one but varied flora and fauna can be found and at the same time it offers some wonderful views of Annapurna ranges. This trip is famous for giving us deep insights into the old traditions of the Gurung community who’ve lived in this stunning area for centuries. This trek offers a dramatic trekking experience for trekkers from all treks.  The area is dominated by the presence of peaks and mountains such as Annapurna Ranges and Machhapuchre etc. These mountains loom in the distance throughout your trek, giving you a true Himalayan experience and lots of enjoyment. Trekking through the lowland villages and mountain communities will expose you to the variety of different cultures of the Gurung, Magars, Manangi people and other local ethnic groups.

Outline Itinerary

  • Day 01: Drive to Pokhara - (827m) 7 hrs Drive
  • Day 02: Drive to Lama Chaur from Pokhara and trek to Ghalche. overnight at Teahouse/lodge (Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner)
  • Day 03: Trek to Ghale Gaon
  • Day 04: Trek to Sikles (1980 m) Overnight at Camp.
  • Day 05: Explore around Sikles Overnight at Camp.
  • Day 06: Trek to Lama Khet Overnight at Camp
  • Day 07: Trek to Kalikasthan (1372 m) Overnight at Camp
  • Day 08: After breakfast drive back to Pokhara
  • Day 09: Drive back to Kathmandu

Detail Itineraries

  • Day 01Drive to Pokhara - (827m) 7 hrs DrivePokhara is tourist's paradise with full of natural as well as cultural heritage sites such as lakes, caves, temples of Buddhist and Hindus along with mountains. You can observe views to the north across the hills and Phewa Tal (lake) to the white peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. You can also fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara which takes about 25 minutes. Overnight in the serene city of lakes.
  • Day 02Drive to Lama Chaur from Pokhara and trek to Ghalche. overnight at Teahouse/lodge (Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner)Today, our trek begins. Initially, we will drive to Bijayapur from Pokhara, which is thirty minutes drive. From Bijaypur we begin our trek. We cross past beautiful flat rice fields and then ascend to Chautara via Rakhigaon. Beyond Chautara our uphill climb continues to a Village dominated by Brahmins (one of the major castes of Nepal). The trail beyond the village finally connects us to Kalikasthan. The view of Pokhara from the Village is fascinating and the mountain views to the north are equally enchanting. Overnight at Kalikasthan, (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
  • Day 03Trek to Ghale GaonAfter the breakfast, we slide down towards Ghale Gaon. One of Nepal's most popular mid-hill destinations for home stay tourism, Ghale Gaon is a wonderful village. En-route to Ghale Gaon we traverse through pleasant rhododendron forest savoring the exceptional views of Boudha Himal, Himalchuli, Manaslu in the east, Mt. Fishtail in the west and Lamjung Himal and Annapurna in the north. On our arrival at Ghale Gaon we enjoy the hospitality of the host family that belongs to great Gurkha Warriors, the Gurungs. Our Accommodation will be in local house with full board meals (breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) included
  • Day 04Trek to Sikles (1980 m) Overnight at Camp.The trail stretches at a flat level along the river bank until you reach Khilan Gaon (village). After this, you follow a path which is gently uphill for some distance and then gradually goes steeply up for some hours. En route, you pass Parju village. The trail again climbs until Siklis village. This is one of the oldest and largest Gurung villages found here. Most of the people here serve in the Indian and British Army. Stay overnight at camp in the lovely village of Sikles with all meals inclusive
  • Day 05Explore around Sikles Overnight at Camp.Today the entire day we explore around the lovely village. We can see lots of activities that are unique for any western trekkers in Sikles. The traditional Gurung lifestyles, the making of handicrafts in a traditional way, the cloth weaving procedure in the traditional way and the flourmills driven by water current following old traditional systems will fascinate you. Besides, you can also explore the flanking rhododendron forest in Sikles. We enjoy our overnight accommodation in tents with full board meals (breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) included
  • Day 06Trek to Lama Khet Overnight at Camp
  • Day 07Trek to Kalikasthan (1372 m) Overnight at CampAfter breakfast, we cross past beautiful flat rice fields and then ascend to Chautara via Rakhigaon.   • Day 08After breakfast drive back to PokharaToday begins with a steep descent to Rudi Stream, which we cross and then follow for about half an hour. As we climb again we are duly rewarded by further views of the Annapurna and Manaslu Ranges. The sights here are truly heartwarming. You literally go on overdrive with your camera for some of the best pictures ever on our cruise back to Pokhara. Overnight at our hotel down by the lake.
  • Day 09Drive back to KathmanduWhile driving from Pokhara to Kathmandu, you head up to Damauli, Dumre, Mugling and Kurintar where Nepal's first Cable car is operated to reach the famous Manakamana Temple (a temple where people go to make special wishes which they hope will be granted by the deity). En route, you can enjoy mountain views, green sceneries, rice terrace fields, vegetable fields and people happily engaged in their daily life chores. From Naubishe, you climb up to Thankot, the gateway to the capital city of Kathmandu. Overnight at your hotel in Kathmandu
